Amish Baked Oatmeal

A tasty old-fashioned, Amish style oatmeal.

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (cut up)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup pitted dates or prunes (diced)
  • 3/4 cup Vermont Maid® Original Syrup


Preheat oven to 350F. Place butter in 11/2-quart round casserole dish. Place dish in oven; heat 3 to 5 minutes until butter melts. Whisk in milk, eggs and syrup until well blended. Stir in oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Fold in dates. Let stand about 15 minutes. Bake, uncovered, 35 minutes (center will not be set). Cool slightly; serve with cream or milk, if desired.
